Gregory's Gourmet Desserts: Indulge in Oakland's Delectable Cupcakes and Cheesecakes

I am SO glad I found this spot while walking to my car. I saw two girls walking up the stairs and that piqued my interest. Curiosity pays off! I went around Thursday at 1PM and there were a few people who were there. It's a super small shop, where you just order and do pick up or takeout only. It's between the iconic murals and you gotta walk a bit downstairs. Inside, they have a few selections, not too many but enough where you have variety and you can see that they specialize in this stuff. The staff (two girls) who worked there (shoutout to Demi) were really helpful and sweet! I decided to try three items. 1. Lake Merritt Special Cheesecake - 5/5 - This was so good, especially if you love chocolate. It has almonds, brownies, and drizzled with chocolate on a cheesecake. 2. Fat Boy - 5/5 - You're telling me this is banana pudding WITH peach cobbler? What an amazing combination and SO GOOD! 3. Apple Streusel Cheesecake - 100/5 - Apparently this is what got them started and MY GOODNESS, this was AMAZING. Love love love and I am a huge fan of apples. Literally my favorite dessert spot... EVER! Absolutely delicious and you best bet I'll be going back!

Simply amazing desserts. They do not hold back at all in terms of richness and taste. I love that they have a huge, ever-changing variety of items and I always want to try more. I love the pecan caramel cheesecake and the coconut cream pie. Can't wait to see what they make as the holidays come around! The line can be long sometimes, it's pretty hit or miss, but it's definitely worth it if you need a sweet treat. It goes by quickly it just feels long because they only let one party in at a time (it's tiny inside, maximum dessert space.) So glad to have this in my neighborhood!

It’s tight to get in and out but the desserts… OMG. Everything is delicious. This will always be a stop when I’m in Oakland. So good!

The blueberry cheesecake is the best cheesecake I’ve ever had in my life. The cookie of the day was an oatmeal raisin white chocolate chip and was SO GOOD. I’m so glad I tried this today, the guy working there was super helpful and kind and the hole in the wall vibe was everything. Thank you!!

Never been here in person but my husband brought four slices home ( banana pudding slice, Oreo slice, German chocolate slice, & a brownie) and all were exceptional! From the first bite, I can tell Gregory is no novice when making desserts. Wish we would have known about them sooner! My only suggestion would be if the cake portion of the German chocolate cake could be more moist, the slice I sampled was pretty dry but others than that based on the slices I’ve tried, Gregory’s is a solid 10/10.

Now THIS is a brownie!! I popped in here after seeing the place on TikTok. The first thing that stood out to me was the variety of desserts as well as how good they all looked. It took awhile for me to figure out what I wanted. I settled on the brownie and NY cheesecake. They are both a 10/10. I also appreciate that they don’t let customers reach into the display cases. It’s a very clean shop with amazing desserts to match.

First the service was great. The man who helped was so nice and very helpful. I got several items for my husband's birthday. Banana pudding cheesecake 10/10 Ultimate milkshake cheesecake 10/10 Sweet potato cake 9/10 Carrot cake 9/10 Will have the sweet potato pie in the morning but I'm sure it will be delicious. Street parking was hard to find there's a garage across the street.

If you have a sweet tooth and you're in the area, go to Gregory's, 285 23rd st, Oakland. This was my first time visiting. This underground store front gives a "You're on for a special treat" vibe. Since the store is underground, only a few people at a time were allowed inside. There are no tables for seating. There were so many desserts to choose from. I ordered the Pecan Sweet Potato Pie. The young man taking orders was very friendly and engaging. He advised that a new location is coming soon to I believe the Walnut Creek area. Research to confirm. The pie was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture. I shared it with my daughter's and we all loved it. You can also order large sizes of desserts as well. I highly recommend Gregory's for your dessert needs. I give Gregory's .
